Art Exhibition: Abandoned Industry

The UMF Art Gallery is kicking off its spring semester season with a moving multi-artist exhibit, “Abandoned Industry.” This exhibition is on display from Jan. 25 – March 3, 2024.

An opening reception will be held at the gallery Thursday, Jan. 25, from 4-7 p.m.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Maine is marked physically and poetically by its working past. This exhibition explores the remains of past industry to question how visual culture and social texture are altered as the nature of work itself changes over time.

The Colors Of Nature And Wildlife An Opening Reception

High Peaks Artisan Guild presents a two-person art exhibit, "The Colors of Nature and Wildlife," from Nov 4th through Nov 27th, 2022, with an opening reception Fri, Nov 4th from 4:30 pm-7:30 pm. Artists and friends Cynthia-Lin Knowles and Alana Marie Ranney have never shown their work together but share a passion for Maine’s beauty, Nature, and Wildlife.

Join us and spend the evening at the gallery viewing, and speaking with the two artists. New works of Cynthia's paintings, pen and ink drawings, and Alana’s photography will be on display.

The artisans will be showing dramatic colors of nature & wildlife originals in prints & photography. The featured artists both live in Strong, Maine. Photographer Alana Ranney Featured Artist

Photographer Alana Ranney featured artist at High Peaks Artisan Guild Friday, June 24th for the Kingfield artwalk.

Alana started photographing after taking a photography class in High School back in the mid 80's. She loved it and for graduation her parents bought her a 35mm Pentex camera for graduation. Ever since she has been photography nature and landscapes. "I love spending a morning or evening exploring in the woods or walking along the coast taking photographs of natures details, beautiful skies, waves crashing, reflections in the water...there is just so much around us you just have to stop and look!" said, Alana.

She joined the Maine Professional Photographers Association (MPPA) in 2011. Alana starting competing in the Maine Professional Photographers Association print completions the following year. Her first year she entering print competition, she won the Award of Excellence in Electronic Imaging for her photograph entitled "Orchids". She also...

The Kennebec Valley Art Association is presenting The Spirit of Maine, a mini art exhibition at 45 Memorial Circle in Augusta.
