West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is located in Lubec, Maine. It is the eastern most lighthouse in the US. Known for its famous red and white candy stripes. The lighthouse sits atop a cliff overlooking the Bay of Fundy. The lighthouse is a part of the Quoddy Head State Park which is a 481 acre peninsula that juts out into the Grand Manan Channel. There are seaside cliffs that rise 50-150 feet. A are a few small beaches to enjoy at the park.
The lighthouse was constructed in 1809 and is 49 feet high. The lighthouse is made of brick and has two windows. There are eight red strips alternating with seven white strips. The base is 16 feet and narrows to 14 feet at the top. The lighthouse became automated in 1988 and is still used today. The lens is about 5 1/2 feet tall and flashes 24 hours a day in a sequence of 2 seconds on and 2 seconds off. The lighthouse it self is not open except on occasion.
The park is owned and managed by the Maine Department of Conse...
Photography... I seek out quiet and relaxing places, I explore the environment, observing the light, shadow, and patterns in nature. I photograph what I love which is a wide array of things! I enjoy taking day trips to relax and unwind with my camera turning around looking for the unique exploring backroads and remote areas! I don't get out as much as I would like I work full time but Photography is my passion and have been a photographer for over 35 years. I am starting something new for me in 2024, I am going to start leading local short photography tours in my backyard. I am available for commissions to photograph your family or your beloved farm, pet, or landscape. My love for photography began in high school, and I still love to...
