I want to see one of these SO badly. They are gorgeous!! When do they typically come around?

How fortunate you are to have seen a Luna moth and to be able to make such a nice portrait. I hope to see you one Sunday.

Alana, I've never before seen a Luna Moth; it's beautiful. I love your green-on-green composition, and the wonderful detail of the moth. A great nature capture. Voted
Alana Ranney replied:
Thank, Geoff!! I came outside one morning and there she was sitting on a hostas. I didn't want to move her, wish she was more near the center so it was all green...

One of God's most beautiful creations! Beautiful shot! I am jealous! Have never seen one of these. It is so lovely that the background picks up the moth's colors as well! vf

Love this photo of the Luna Moth. They are mostly seen at night but I did see one once in the dead of night in northern Minnesota. It had been attracted to an outdoor light and was fluttering around. I tried to get a picture of it but failed. There just wasn't enough light to do it justice.
